Former Station Hotel To Be Transformed Into 15 Rental Units

Newby, an experienced developer based in North Yorkshire, is set to complete the transformation of its residential rental development, The Station, a former two-storey public house and hotel in the cathedral city of Ripon.  The rental scheme is due for completion in October 2018.

Closed and neglected for many years, the property which is situated on the south side of North Road on the approach to Ripon city centre, has been converted into 15 communal living units for rent.  The property benefits from great transport links to Harrogate, Wetherby and York with good motorway connections.

The rejuvenated 2,717 sq ft property, including communal space, will consist of 5 studios with fully tiled en-suites, walk in showers and integrated kitchens; 8 en-suite rooms with shared living, study and kitchen space and 2 apartments.

Newby acquired the property in 2013 with plans to regenerate the site to offer high quality, rental accommodation which will be available from October 2018 to rent directly from the developer.

Nick Moody, Director at Newby, said:

“We are delighted to be nearing completion on The Station to deliver first class, unique rental accommodation in the vibrant city of Ripon.   We have worked in close collaboration with Harrogate Borough Council to develop a scheme that not only regenerates a neglected, vacant site to provide much needed high quality rental opportunities, but also remains sensitive to the surrounding buildings and historical heritage of Ripon.

“The Station development brings something new to the vibrant city of Ripon and will certainly appeal to millennials and professionals looking for the ‘community’ feel of co-living space.   As well as being home to the beautiful Ripon cathedral, it has a fantastic racecourse and popular local attractions and amenities, making it a great place to live with easy access to commuter networks.” continued Nick.
