Prime York city centre development opens its doors for the first time

Open event at Ryedale House on 9th March will unveil show suite and floorplans

Building to include 77 one, two and three-bedroom apartments and luxurious hotel-style lobby with concierge

A centrally located residential development, overlooking some of York’s most iconic city centre attractions, will open its doors for the first time as property developer Newby hosts an exclusive launch event at Ryedale House.

Members of the public can find out more about Ryedale House, Piccadilly, York on Saturday 9th March from 10am until 4pm – with the unveiling of the 77-apartment building’s show suite and floorplans. As well as providing the opportunity to see how the development will look first-hand, there will also be food and drink from York’s own Filmore and Union.

Ryedale House is the redevelopment of a building which has been a dominant feature on the side of the River Foss since the 1970s, although unoccupied for the last 15 years. Both the exterior and interior of the building will be completely transformed by Newby into 77 one, two and three bedroom luxury apartments spread over eight floors, creating a building which is visually distinctive but in keeping within its historic setting.

All of the apartments, which will start at £250,000, rising to £1.25million, will feature floor to ceiling glazing, to make the most of multi aspect city centre views. Some apartments will also benefit from balconies overlooking the historic city. All apartments feature open plan living areas and the fit out will be to a high specification, including Vessini bathrooms and bespoke kitchens. An impressive hotel-style lobby with concierge will greet residents and the building will also include secure underground parking, lifts to all floors, cycle stores and generous storage lockers to all apartments. Commercial units will be developed on the ground floor for cafes and small retail stores.

Nick Moody, Founding Partner of Newby, said “Ryedale House is an imposing building on the York skyline, and there has been much speculation about how it would be regenerated. We are delighted to now be able to unveil our collection of luxurious one, two and three-bedroom apartments in this prime city centre location. We have, as always, worked closely with architects, the local council and conservation experts to deliver a development worthy of its magnificent setting. The views from the full height windows are breathtaking, taking in everything from York Minster to Clifford’s Tower, making the open plan living spaces something really very special. We are confident that these unique apartments will exceed all expectations, and we can’t wait to let people take a look for themselves on 9th March.”

This is Newby’s second development in York, having previously converted Castle Chambers on Clifford Street into 25 apartments and one commercial unit. Newby also has plans to develop an 11-acre site to the rear of The Cocoa Works on Wigginton Road, known as Cocoa West.
